The Nearly Perfect Ending to an Imperfect Day

We all need good days. And we really need days that end well, especially when you've had a bad day or a whole string of bad days.Well, today I think I have my good ending that I'm sure I deserve. This past year, especially these last six months, have reinforced my belief that you can't take ANYTHING for granted. It's kind of like hearing someone tell you, "The check is in the mail." Don't you believe it until you've got that check in your hot little hands.
If you want to see a pretty sight, you should see the new washer/dryer stack unit now installed in my bedroom. Sure, there's still a big hole in the wall where the contractor's crew had to vent the dryer to the outside. So what? Monday (I was told) they'll come back to do the "mud" work (plaster, etc., to patch it). Then when that's all dry and stable, probably two or three days, the whole wall will be repainted. Yesterday they painted the other walls. I chose a pale, pale, mint green. I love it!
Another exhilarating experience I had today was the reassurance I received that my Medicare Part B supplemental health insurance is now in effect. Not only that, but I got a call from the Rx drug company that I chose as my Medicare Part D that starts in January. Well, when I get all the data, new insurance and Rx cards in my hands, then I'll truly exhale.
Right now I have a newly washed load of clothes waiting to be lifted a few inches upward to the dryer. I'm starting to get the same excited feeling like when I see that I've just won a jackpot on a slot machine.
You know the photos we've all had taken of our families, so we can put it on a Christmas card? Everyone is smiling (you hope), they all have their eyes open (you hope), and if you include the dog, the dog looks happy and great. I'll never be able to take those pictures again. But, I'm so proud of the new machinery and happy to see it there, I'm considering having a photo shot of me and it to use on a greeting card (I'll be the one who's smiling).©2005 by Patricia J.
