PAUL HERTELENDY
FROZEN BRIDE
Summer wedding on a green beside the sea,
With priestly robes that horizontal flap
As frigid winds intrude abruptly,
Whipping up the whitecap waves.
A line of lovely primavera bridesmaids enters,
Followed by a bride in radiance
And strapless pristine gown as white as surf. The ceremony came and went, with blessings,
As the temperatures descended
While the bride kept smiling,
Showing grit in cold adversity
That signaled her exemplary preparedness
For almost every wrenching challenge
That she faces in the coming 50 years.
