KEYED-UP
SAGACITY
And
the Catatonic Cat
 |
Feline Siamese that
barely knows me
Silent leaps from rug to chair to table,
Strolling up and nuzzling me seductively
With silky fur
While blocking view of keyboard.
Exiting, I leave her space and latitude
As slow she turns
And starts her drawn-out dance on tiny feet
Upon the laptop keys.
we
are, and were before the pharaohs
in our iron-bound society
the sages called IMPERIAL PAW.
look for us to dominate the earthly eras,
far beyond you two-legs ultimate departure,
triumphant while the other species come and go,
insistent meantime on your deferential recognition
which we cultivate through seeming servitude.
Assured
no humans access to the chamber,
Stunned I come and stumble on
This screen-writ mystery manifesto.
Catatonic cat is nowhere seen,
Until shes spotted lying on a high-reach shelf
With hard-fixed eyes, an enigmatic mien
And look of smug contentment,
Sphinx-like,
Just as though appointed by her clan
To serve as reigning oracle.
