PAUL HERTELENDY
A TERSE SLOW MOTION
By PAUL HERTELENDY
of TheColumnists.com
Incandescent lamps cast tepid glow
Upon a domestic winter still-life scene
Where she transfixed reads "Lassie" in her living room:
Soft-contoured sofa, shelf of well-thumbed books, poinsetta plant by coffee table, and,
That ancient sleeping hound who senses competition.
Hound, now feeling chilly, stirs and shifts a few paws closer to the fire,
Balling up the hearthside sheepskin rug and thereby
Turning still-life into slo-mo of
A would-be collie's round-up.©2011 by Paul Hertelendy. The photo is courtesy of alloveralbany.com. This column was first posted Jan. 31, 2011.
