 PAW-STAMP OF APPROVAL
Peace Breaks Out on the Western Front

"Hey, let's wake him up and see what he has
planned for us today!"

I sleep less these days,
Accustomed to some bodies landing on me
At outrageous hours awakening,
Because they’re sure alarm clocks never work,
Arriving quite anonymously
Till they sound meows or barks.
And then we know the animals are doing it
With all best interests of the house at heart.

Quite soon, when holidays are past,
Both cats will head back home again.
On arrival, paw by paw
These staunch antagonists had signed
A treaty of eternal peace with canine resident.
Each recognized constraints, due limits,
And zones demilitarized,
Then passing in the hallways unperturbed,
Just like oblivious pedestrians downtown:
Ménage à trois compatibility.
