 WHITE HORSE IN THE MOUNTAINS

ONE OF THE MANY GLACIERS REMAINING IN PATAGONIA

A glacier is an untamed stallion
With a bed of spikes for saddle,
Hopeless bronc to ride,
Unbridled charging down the hostile slopes,
Grinding down the rock until it's lost its features,
Cracking newborn fissures with reports like gunshots,
Hacking icebergs loose out in the water,
With a violence of waves
Capsizing boats caught unawares.
Don't ever lose your energy,
You beast magnificent that guards the summits of the gods!

---Patagonia, Argentina, at the foot of the Andes
