TheColumnists.com operates as a collective, with each
columnist retaining sole rights to his or her columns.
We are now setting up a new program that will allow
you to reprint certain columns in your publication
without first contacting our organization or the
individual columnists. This requires the setting of
standard fees and specific restrictions on the use
of certain columns. While we work together to
standardize our arrangements, the two columnists
below have agreed to test out the system for us.

All of RON MILLER's columns--with a few specific exceptions--are
currently available for one-time only reprint for a flat fee of $25 each. This grant
of rights is available to newspapers or publications of any size as long as they
are not distributed nationally. Syndication or multiple distribution through
a chain of regional newspapers is not permitted. Use of the material in book
compilations or anthologies also is not permitted. Reprint rights for
national distribution in books, magazines, newspapers, trade journals, house
organs and other publications are available, but must be negotiated with
the author individually. The only columns excepted from the flat $25 fee
are the following works of fiction: "Doom Survivor I, II & III"; "The Pest
Control Man's Vacation"; "Effie & the Christmas Indian"; "Element of
Surprise" and similar works labelled as "fiction."
The right to reprint Ron Miller's columns DOES NOT include the
illustrations. Rights for their use must be negotiated with the
individual copyright holders. Use of the Jim Hummel caricature
of Ron Miller must be negotiated with Hummel.

All of Chuck McFadden's columns are available for the flat fee of $25
each for one-time use only. All the conditions listed above in the section
dealing with Ron Miller's reprint rights also pertain to Chuck McFadden's
columns and articles. Use of the Jim Hummel caricature of McFadden must
be negotiated with Hummel.

All Patricia J. Geister's columns are available for a fee of $25 each. She follows
the same set of general reprint rules cited in the Ron Miller statement above.

You may copy the Ron Miller, Chuck McFadden or Patricia J. Geister columns you want to reprint directly from our website. Older columns are available by going
to the archive index page and clicking on the name of the column. As long
as your use of the material meets the criteria listed above, you do not need
to get advance permission to use them.
